Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris France to British parents Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson, both lawyers. They relocated to Oxfordshire in the year she turned five where she attended the Dragon School. Emma was only six when she decided she wanted to pursue a career as an actress. She studied for a number of years at Stagecoach Theatre Arts, a part time theatre school in Oxford where she studied acting as well as singing. When she was 10 years old, Emma took part in numerous Stagecoach plays and productions. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone The 2001 film adaption from J.K. Rowling's bestselling book was cast in 1999. Emma was found by casting agents through Emma's Oxford theatre instructor. David Heyman told Emma along together with Rupert Grint, Daniel Radcliffe after they all had 8 consecutive auditions. Emma's first cinematic appearance was with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in 2001. The film was also one of the top-rated films in 2001. Opening weekend and day ticket sales were record-breaking. The film was praised by experts, and also by the performance of three new starlets. The Daily Telegraph praised Emma for her excellent performance. Emma later won five awards for her performance in the film.
